My name is Kelli Rockwell , and I like Photoshop.
Thiink Posters is a one-of-a-kind custom poster generation service I created to help aesthetically-predisposed people of the Claremont Colleges come by affordable, well-designed wall art to reflect their interestes, hobbies, and inspirations. Read on to learn more about me and my business!
The concept behind Thiink is creating unique posters for unique people. I want to take something you love—anything at all—and create a work that showcases why you love it. To that end, the design is a collaboration between you and me: Your job is to think about and articulate verbally this thing that you appreciate, and then my job is to translate what you have just articulated into visual design and save you the trouble of physically acquiring the product.
In the summer of 2013, as a rising first-year at Pomona College, I began shopping for college supplies online plenty early. Soon, the objects of my search turned from silverware and bedding to decorations—specifically, posters. Much to my chagrin, I could not find posters of anything outside of mainstream media or Van Gogh for less than $30 a print. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good Starry Night as much as the next college student, but I had other ideas for my future dorm walls.
Determined as ever and filled with hungry ambition, I turned to my favorite graphics program, Adobe Photoshop, and started creating the posters I had hoped to find. Many quotes, characters, fonts, and textures later, I had a room full of absolutely unique posters, some of which were requests I had taken from friends and family. The following summer, I offered up my services again—this time to the new incoming first-years—and was met with a lot of enthusiasm. From this incipient business sprouted Thiink.
My name is Kelli. I am currently a third-year undergraduate at Pomona College studying physics and computer science. I am a scientist, a programmer, an engineer, and an artist. I have lots of interests and little dislikes, I own too many paint samples (truth) and too few pillows (sarcasm), and I wish I had more hours in the day and fewer distractions in the hour. I love photoshop and graphic design, so this business lets me give other people something to love by doing something that I love! Pleased to make your acquaintance!
